AAHealth Facts About Migraines
Many people suffer from migraines which are a terrible headache that is long lasting and can have some pretty bad side effects. And that begs the question of what causes a person to have them and what they can do about them. Here are a few health facts about migraines in order to gain a better understanding.
There are some specific foods that have been linked to causing migraines for many years. Some of those foods are meats that have been highly processed like sausages, hot dog weenies, and little smokies just to name a few. Research has also found a link between chocolate that exemplifies the complications of a migraine. Alcoholic beverages have also been known to increase the severity, primarily wine.
The main common ingredient in all of those items is the nitrates. It is considered to be the primary culprit, but it also requires a predisposition to having headaches. However, to look further into the topic at hand people who suffer from migraines might have an increased amount of oral bacteria which ultimately process the nitrates.
What all of this means is that a migraine sufferer makes higher levels of nitric oxide while they are the processing the nitrates. Further research is still needed, but the link does seem to be there. Doctors are considering what an appropriate treatment might be for the recent research discoveries. It could be that a medicinal probiotic mouthwash could be developed to aid in the recovery.
An easy might seem to be to avoid them; however, that would be hard to do knowing that leafy greens would be the first ingredient to go. But avoiding the highly processed meats, chocolate, and wine would be helpful in avoiding migraines. Knowing which foods to avoid, is a good place to begin when a person would like to not have to weather through a migraine headache.
